my cat daisy-talks with me

MY CAT DAISY - TALKS WITH ME

My wife and daughter entered an animal shelter thinking about finding a cat to bring home; you know, if you don't chose just one of them, the others have to be 'put to sleep'.  So with this in their minds they started looking into the cages where they were all kinds of cats;  young ones and old ones...pretty ones and ugly ones.  Some of these felines just were silent and watched them as they both walked by (thinking, is this one that would make a good cat to live in our home with us?)

It was about that time that they heard this one cat screaming and screeching bloody murder; all four paws gripping the cage as if she wanted someone to claim her and take her home with them right then!

So my daughter was so heart stuck with this cat's behavior that she turned to her mom and pleaded,  "Mom, I just know this is THE one for us!"  Her mother shook her head no, but with our daughter's insistence, she finally agreed and told the attendant to pull her out and help them carry her to the van waiting outside.

When they returned home our daughter introduced me to this wild looking kitty cat, handed her to me and said, "Dad. I want to introduce you to Daisy, our new kitty cat...please take her down to our cellar, I don't think she would do very well upstairs where we have very nice things"....so I did take her by the nap of her neck (I had learned this back on the farm) and immediately Daisy went limp in my right hand.

I took her into our cellar and released her and immediately she let out a stream as if some weird vampire had suddenly walked in and she kept backing up until she was in the far corner of our cellar.  It took me quite a long time, but eventually we became friends...I mean the kind that have chats together.  When she finally quieted down she sided up to me and looked up straight into my blue eyes and said, "Hi John, so sorry I over reacted when you first set me down in this...um...just what is this John....looks like a dungeon....or a dark prison cell...anyway, are you the kind of man whom I can trust?"

It seemed strange to be, even a little weird that here was a young kitty cat talking to me and asking me this question about our cellar.  So with a lot of hesitation I answered her, "Daisy, this is very odd to me that you can actually chat with me, I think if you want to live down here I will try to make you be comfortable....like a nice warm place to sleep, good food, and a kitty cat tray where I will pour in the nicest kitty cat stuff for you to you to awww...ya' know what kitty cats do?"

That was just our beginning; since then we have deepened our relationship with my daily morning and evening visited where she and I chat about great subjects, such as religion, politics, and even about our mothers and fathers.
