HAVING A CLEAR CONSCIENCE

I understand that having the emotion of shame is the most hurtful of all emotions;  that means that we continue to let our guilt from past errors in our lives produce a depth of shame which constantly controls of thought life.  Since no one is perfect, then everyone may have this problem.

There are some people who have no shame; their conscience is so seared that they have no remorse for what they have done to others, or to themselves.  The word "conscience" means "to know the same thing"; it is as though there is one side of us which knows when we know we've done good or bad and that is a God given part of our human nature.  Most of us have seen the cartoon of a little devil sitting on one shoulder and an angel sitting on the other shoulder;  they are pulling us this way and that way....it is called temptation verses overcoming temptations and doing what is right.

Our Creator has given us a sense of His own intelligence; and it is within us and if we allow it, that intelligence can release a creative power within our own lives....we all are capable of being magnificent and we realize that we are a miracle of God, worthy of finding truth about ourselves.

This truth is based on the idea that our physical bodies are only temporary structures which age depending how we think about ourselves.  Worry and anxiety causes our bodies to age more quickly; many illnesses can take hold of our bodies if we continue to complain about our aches and pains....our own words have power in them....power to heal or power to destroy.

I think every living thing has a spirit; many religions believe this, even the American Indians chatted to various spirits in order to send rain, or give them victory over their enemies.  As a Christian, I know that God is a spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.  I also think that human beings are the only one of God's creation which has a soul.  That means that our souls are eternal...as infinite as God....and what we do with our souls while we live depends on whether or not have learned how to cleanse our souls with having a clear conscience.

As a Christian, the Bible is very direct in how to have a clean conscience; and that is to trust is Someone who has paid for all the wrongs we've every done.  To believe that our sins and all our guilt and shame was taken on by Jesus Christ when He went to His cross.

Now I can either live with my guilt and shame, or I can believe that I have been released from all of that, and stand pure and clean before God, others, and myself.

There is only one power strong enough to rid is of all this, and that is the agape of God....that is how Jesus Himself found strength to accomplish His own mission.   He could have stopped at any time along the way, but he chose to continue on, he used His own words to defeat Satan, and to hang on His cross and to be able to say, "Father, forgive these who are crucifying me, they don't know what they're doing."

Our minds are where it all happens..."Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus....."
